Privacy & Cookie Policy
Last updated: June 25, 2026
1. Introduction
Whereto is an interactive tool for exploring and comparing countries for relocation, citizenship, residence, tax, business, education, and lifestyle. This policy explains how Cublya(“we”, “us”, “our”) handles personal data when you use Whereto, and describes your privacy rights and how the law protects you.
All country information in Whereto is illustrative and provided for general informational purposes only. It is not legal, immigration, financial, or tax advice.
2. Information We Collect
Whereto is designed to work without you creating an account or giving us your name. Depending on how you use the site, we may process:
- Preferences stored on your device: your saved (favorited) countries, selected view, filters, theme, and cookie choice are stored locally in your browser and are not sent to us.
- Technical data: such as IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system, and time zone, which may be processed by our hosting and infrastructure providers to deliver and secure the site.
- Usage data: aggregated, non-identifying information about how the site is used, where analytics are enabled (see the Cookies section below).
- Communications data: if you contact us by email, the contents of your message and your address.
3. How We Use Your Data
We only use personal data where the law allows. Most commonly we rely on:
- Legitimate interests: to operate, maintain, secure, and improve Whereto, and to understand how it is used.
- Consent: for optional cookies and analytics, where required.
- Legal obligation: where we must process data to comply with the law.
4. How We Use Cookies
Cookies and similar technologies (including browser local storage) let the site function and help us understand usage. We group them as:
- Strictly necessary: required for the site to work, including remembering your cookie choice and your in-app preferences (saved countries, view, filters, theme). These do not require consent.
- Analytics / optional:help us measure and improve the experience. These are only set if you choose “Accept all”.
You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer. You can also set your browser to refuse some or all cookies; if you do, some parts of the site may not function properly.
5. Sharing Your Data
We do not sell your personal data. We may share limited data with service providers who help us run Whereto, for example hosting, content delivery, and analytics providers, who process it on our behalf under appropriate safeguards.
6. Data Retention
Preferences stored on your device remain until you clear them in your browser. We retain other data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, or to meet legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.
7. Data Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect data against accidental loss and unauthorised access, alteration, or disclosure, and limit access to those who need it.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, erase, or port your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@cublya.com.
9. Third-party Links
Whereto links to third-party sources and websites (for example government and reference sources for country data). We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites; please review their own policies.
10. International Transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where it is, we take steps to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection consistent with this policy and applicable law.
11. Children
Whereto is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date above. This policy is governed by the laws of [Your Jurisdiction].
